Innovation, know-how and dedication at every stage!

Our financial commitment – since 2009 – to R&D has guided us in the discovery of the nutritional mysteries of donkey milk, while broadening its potential applications.

R&D

Innovation & Tradition: Precious milk with a rich past and a bright future

Our commitment to R&D has been demonstrated over the decades. In addition to our exploration of the nutritional and cosmeceutical benefits of donkey milk, we hold two patents in the paediatric and nutraceutical sectors, testifying to our constant drive for innovation.

Patents

Probiotic lactic acid bacteria can be extracted from donkey’s milk, and these bacteria have demonstrated beneficial properties such as antimicrobial activity against pathogens, antioxidant activity and the ability to reduce cholesterol. These discoveries are protected by patents in several countries. In addition, a patent for a protein concentrate derived from donkey’s milk has also been granted in Europe.

Major clinical studies

Donkey’s milk, historically recognised for its nutritional and cosmetic values, is re-emerging as a promising functional food, particularly in infant nutrition thanks to its similarity to human milk. Its known benefits range from the treatment of cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) in children to its potential in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, thanks to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids. Recent scientific explorations also point to its potential in the management of inflammatory conditions and even certain cancers, making donkey milk a subject of growing interest in the medical and nutritional fields, with research underway to harness its health benefits for children and adults alike.

CNR-ISPA

Since 2009, Eurolactis has been working closely with the Institute of Food Science (CNR-ISPA) in Italy, a partnership strengthened by a scientific consultancy contract. This almost two-decade collaboration demonstrates our mutual commitment to exploration and innovation in the nutritional and probiotic areas of donkey milk. This alliance has led to patent-protected probiotic discoveries, symbolising a significant advance in infant and neonatal nutrition. Our special relationship with the CNR-ISPA continues to enrich our research efforts, and reaffirms our shared quest for excellence and innovation.
